Through Hole Crystals - An Overview
The Hy-Q range of AT-cut through hole crystals covers a frequency spectrum from 1 MHz to 200MHz, with units in resistance weld holders. The resistance weld range of holders includes all common international standard types. The table below shows the frequency range available for each overtone order within each group of holder styles.
Use the links in the following table to view or download the desired data sheet in PDF format. To view the holder styles for each ESR group, use the link in the ‘Group’ column.
The size of the crystal enclosure determines the maximum size of the resonator that it can accommodate. This limits the lower end of the frequency range for each enclosure type. It may also limit the ruggedness, reproducibility and choice of equivalent circuit parameters.

Three Column Code Examples
To minimise costs, over-specification should be avoided. The degree of difficulty in manufacture increases rapidly as requirements on temperature stability and calibration tolerance are tightened. If in doubt, our staff should be consulted for advice on cost/performance trade-offs in particular instances. Additionally, there are limitations on the stabilities that can be offered for some combinations of holder style and frequency range.
Example 1 – GF 03 F
Temperature Range and Frequency Tolerance: -10°C to +60°C and ±15ppm
Calibration Tolerance: ±20ppm
Circuit Condition: 32pF input capacity
Minimum Order Information
● Nominal Frequency
● Overtone Order – Fundamental, 3rd, 5th, 7th
● Holder Style
● THREE COLUMN CODE
● Quantity Required
Example 2 – TW 05 S
Temperature Range and Frequency Tolerance: +70°C (±2°C) and ±1ppm
Calibration Tolerance: ±10ppm
Circuit Condition: Series resonance
It is necessary to specify the overtone order when the frequency is such that it can be made as either one or two modes.
When an Equipment Manufacturer’s Crystal Specification is known, normally quoted in the equipment handbook, this information should be given in lieu of the ‘Three Column Code’.
